WAIT

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried:
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently said, “Child, you must wait.”

“Wait? You say, wait!” my indignant reply.
“Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have You not heard?
By Faith, I have asked, and am claiming Your Word.

My future and all to which I can relate
Hangs in the balance, and YOU tell me to WAIT?
I’m needing a ‘yes,’ a go-ahead sign,
Or even a ‘no’ to which I can resign.

And Lord, You promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I’ve been asking, and this is my cry:
I’m weary of asking! I need a reply!”

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
As my Master replied once again, “You must wait.”

So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
And grumbled to God, “So, I’m waiting … for what?”

He seemed, then, to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run.

All you seek, I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want—But, you wouldn't know Me.

You’d not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You’d not know the power that I give to the faint;
You’d not learn to see through the clouds of despair;
You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there;

You’d not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.
You’d never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You’d know that I give and I save … (for a start),
But you’d not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

The glow of My comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight,
The depth that’s beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

You’d never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that ‘My grace is sufficient for Thee.’
Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true,
But, Oh, the Loss! If I lost what I’m doing in you!

So, be silent, My child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And though oft’ may My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still, ‘WAIT’”.

This poem was not written by me but is one that speaks to the depths and true desires of my heart. May God grant me the patience and wisdom to wait on His will to come to fruition in my life; rather than taking matters into my own hands. God bless.

Wide Open Road

My heart is crying out Can you hear it shout, What it is longing for? It just wants to soar. To go up and over Like a Range Rover, On the highest mountain. To dive into the depths Of the largest fountain. To scale tall buildings, And fly among the birds. Haven't you ever heard? My heart is crazy and wild Just like a little child, Who wants to explore All of creation for The best kind of fun. In the morning sun My heart will run, After what it desires. It never tires Of going for gold. Or of being sold Out for Christ. Deny Him thrice? You got to be tripping. I'll be whipping The Devil back From his attack. I am a warrior, a soldier. Getting stronger, as I'm older. My heart is crying out To jump all around And for beauty to be found. So that it may be rescued. My thoughts aren't skewed! What you talking about fool? You need to go back to school. I want to fight the fight, Of darkness and light...

September 11, 2001

Just a few days ago It was September 11, A day, that in 2001, Some people went to heaven. They left our lives And some of them, their wives, On that day they died. Because of two planes And people who were insane. That day is a day That will live forever, And for some people It will never get better. We mourn those who Gave their all While on call. To save one or two People crying out Can you hear them shout? "Save me, help me, I don't want to die!" And so many of us can only ask, "Why?" Why did this happen to us? Who should we trust? How can we live on? What is the reason? I tell you today That I cannot say, That I know how they feel Or how they will deal, With this kind of loss That makes them feel gross. I wish I could make Their pain fade away. But I cannot take Back what will not stay, Because of the fact that God let it go that way. He controls whether we live or die, And knows every moment we cry. He wants to giv...

Too Many Emotions

Right at this moment My head is in a whirl I have many comments On life in this world But I do not know Where to go Or what to feel. What's the deal? I miss my friends. I want to spend Time with them all, Hear them say, "Y'all!" But they are gone What seems like forever! Will a day actually come Will I ever, See them again Before the end? I want them back So much I do But is that Really accurate? I feel sad for my loss (I'm even losing my boss) But I am also glad For the days ahead You hear what I said? I am looking forward To the new and awkward, Times with new friends Who are coming soon. What will they be like? Will we grow as much As I did before? Who will I know And where will we go, When we want to have fun Or to just tan in the sun? I really do not know What it is that will go On in the next few months. But I do know this I will trust in God, You know who He is? He...
